Reading the History of the Station in the Waiting Room
Old signal lamps, ticket-punching pliers, vintage railway uniforms, yellowed photographs, and so on. On May 16th, the eve of International Museum Day, visitors entered the elevated waiting hall of Zhuzhou Railway Station. The "Striving for a Century of Progress" exhibition, featuring railway antiques, quietly tells the 100-year-old story of Zhuzhou Station. The unique exhibition drew the attention of travelers from all over, prompting many to stop and admire.
Located at the intersection of the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, the main line of the Shanghai-Kunming Railway and the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway, Zhuzhou Railway Station is one of the key railway hubs in central and southern China. Built in 1905 with the opening of the Zhuzhou-Pingxiang Railway, the station started with just one platform. Now, it has grown into a large, modern, comprehensive transport hub with six platforms, integrating normal-speed rail, cross-line high-speed rail, intercity trains and intelligent bus systems. With a history spanning 119 years, Zhuzhou Railway Station has weathered many changes. This exhibition, featuring nearly 200 items—ranging from awards and certificates to photos, equipment and documents—presents the station's rich history to the public, like vivid pages from a historical book.
